The Blackbird Film Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in central New York state that celebrates and supports independent filmmakers from around the world. At the Blackbird Film Festival, we strive to curate an inclusive festival atmosphere - an environment where experienced professionals and first time filmmakers can strike up conversation and perhaps take something away from one another.

VIRTUAL FESTIVAL OVERVIEW
When the COVID19 pandemic struck in early 2020, the BLACKBIRD FILM FESTIVAL was forced to postpone and reinvent itself into a drive-in screening event... As a way to include the many filmmakers who were unable to travel due to safely concerns and restrictions, we created this online portal for filmmakers to remain a part of the Blackbird experience from afar.
The Virtual Portal was such a success in 2020, we brought it back in 2021 and included a variety of virtual Workshops, FilmTalks, and more! Now, in 2023, the Virtual Portal remains a space for filmmakers to connect with each other before, during, and after the annual in-person festival!
