AWARD WINNERS & NOMINEES
2022 Festival Awards were announced live on Blackbird's Facebook Page on Sunday, May 29th at 9pm (ET). The 2022 Black Feather Award and Audience Choice Awards were announced on Sunday, May 22nd during the in-person Award Ceremony Reception.
BLACK FEATHER AWARD
KYLE THOMPSON
The Black Feather Award is given each year to a filmmaker who reflects the inclusive values Blackbird stands for and embodies the spirit of the festival. Typically, Black Feather Award winners are festival alumni who remain engaged and continue to show their support year after year.
This year, the Black Feather Award was given to Kyle Thompson, a filmmaker alumnus of Blackbird in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and Programming Director of the Fort Myers Beach International Film Festival. Despite the COVID19 pandemic years, Kyle and his lovely family made the trip to Blackbird and showed nothing but love and support for the event. After Blackbird, Kyle continued to support Blackbird by spreading the word to filmmakers in his network.
AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARDS
2022 Audience Choice Awards were determined by votes cast after the live screenings at the in-person festival and winners were announced on Sunday, May 22nd during the Award Ceremony Reception.
